P & R Obligations for Chapters
Each chapter president has been asked to appoint a P & R representative for the chapter. That individual is responsible for keeping abreast of projects nominated for consideration by the chapter and for fielding questions that may arise relative to the grant application during the selection process.
The deadline for sending monies to the State P & R project fund is April 1.
Grant awards will depend on the donations collected between April 1st and the following April 1st.
Most Recent Award: 2017-2018 P & R Project
- $2,500 to Prairie Pasque #1072, for restoration of the Art B. Thomas Carousel at Prairie Village in Madison.
Recent P & R Projects
- 2013-2014: $2,900 to Stanage #612, Yankton, for continued rehabilitation of the Mead Building in Yankton County. Work on restoring and repairing exterior masonry and windows continues.
- 2013-2014: $2,900 to Rushmore Memories #1147, Rapid City, for completion of weather proofing of the “Pap” Madison cabin. The cabin is the oldest building in Rapid City and is on the grounds of the Journey Museum.
- 2013-2014: $2,900 to Dacotahs #971, Sioux Falls, for the replacement of the roof on the Rutland Depot / Train Station, located on the Sioux Empire Fair Grounds.
- 2014-2015: $1,000 to Klondike Mill #1341, Canton, to help paint the Grand Valley Rural Schoolhouse Living History Museum.
- 2014-2015: $1,000 to Aberdeen’s three chapters (Land of Oz #1001, Yellow Brick Road #1198 and Emerald City #1197) to help restore the stained glass window in the Brown County Courthouse, Aberdeen.
- 2016-2017: No grants awarded.
- 2017-2018: $2,500 to Prairie Pasque #1072 for restoration of the Art B. Thomas Carousel at Prairie Village in Madison.
